Romanian Explore Belt 2017

Highlands & Islands and friends from Clyde and West Regions are looking to take Explorers and Network aged Scouts between 16 & 25 to Transylvania, Romania in July 2017.The cost is approximately £750 just now, but the amount could go lower than this once flights are available. People can choose to either book their own flight or we can do it for you.If booking direct the amount will be less than £750, but this can be discussed once we have your interest. We will be flying from Glasgow direct to Bucharest (capital of Romania) and then transferring into the stunning region of Transylvania.

Transylvania is the forgotten jewel in Romania’s crown and is one of the most important and natural and cultural landscapes. The region is made up of a mosaic of unspoiled traditional villages and fortified medieval churches. The city of Brasov with its fairy-tale turrets and cobbled streets will be our starting point with the chance to look around the city prior to leaving on the expedition itself. Of course the most famous castle of all belongs to Dracula, just a few miles away!!We will end at Brasov before transferring back to the capital Bucharest for an overnight stay and then on home to Glasgow.

The Explorer Belt is a challenge of a lifetime. It is a chance to take part in a ten day expedition that brings you a real understanding of a different country, its culture and way of life. You will develop this understanding by travelling through your chosen country, working as part of a small team to complete a series of projects and most importantly by meeting local people. It is an experience and an achievement that you will remember for the rest of your life.

Undertake a 10-day expedition as part of a small team outside of the UK with a minimum travelling time of 50 hours over the 10 days, by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dinghy.
