The following gives some information on the activities that are in this year’s programme.
Cruising
Drive a motorised cruiser in the picturesque surroundings of the Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness – if you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of the Loch Ness Monster near Urquhart Castle. Practise picking up a floating object – not that easy if the water is at all choppy when it is difficult to keep object in sight. You may get a chance to navigate through Dochgarroch Locks.
Water Activities
Sailing:Experience the thrill of harnessing the wind by sailing either single handed or two person dinghies in the tranquil surroundings of Loch Dochfour and Dores Bay.
Kayaking:Come try your hand at traditional kayaking in single seat kayaks on the canal and scenic Loch Dochfour. We cater for three different groups – beginners, intermediate and advanced.
Canadian Canoeing: What is the J – stroke? Learn the skills of open Canadian canoeing while experiencing a scenic trip down the canal to Loch Dochfour while imagining yourself as a pioneer in the wilds of Canada!
Bell Boating: If you are up for a real team building challenge come take up the bell boating challenge.
Land Activities
Aerial Runway/ Frisbee Golf: Come and experience the thrills on the Aerial Runway and try your hand at target Frisbee round a course.
Archery: Receive instruction in archery and shoot at targets.
Backwoods Cooking: What tasty morsels does Jenny have in store.
Cally Ha Ha: As the name suggests a fun base – What will the base leaders think up this year!
Clay Pigeon Shooting: Following a safety talk you will be shown gun maintenance and have a chance to try your hand at shooting at clays.
Craft Base: See what the base leaders have thought up this year.
Crate Building: How high you can build a stack of crates. You will be attached to a safety rope as you climb the stack and place the crates that are handed up to you.
4x4 Off Road Driving: Under instruction experience driving a Land Rover over a course over undulating ground.
Gameshow Marathon: Join Jamie at a base this year!
Geocaching: Compass and GPS work. Try to find the hidden markers.
Incident Walk – Emergency First Aid: How good are you in an emergency? Remember our motto is ‘Be Prepared’
Kubb: Try your hand at Viking Chess.
Landmark Adventure: Spend most of Saturday at Landmark at Carrbridge. Go on the tree top trail, the timber trail, Wild Water Coaster, Adventureland, Microworld, etc.
Mountain Walking: A day in the mountains with fully qualified leaders. Weather permitting you will climb a Munro - a mountain over 3000’. (Only for those with proper clothing for the mountains).
Murder Mystery: How good are your Scouting and reasoning skills?
Off road Cycling: Mountain biking over trails. Be prepared to get muddy if the weather has been wet.
Pacman + Adventures: Pacman + well come and find out!
Photo Orienteering: Identify where the photographs were taken round the site. Not as easy as one might think – can you be first to find them all?
Pony Treking: Experience the fun of letting the horse take the strain and seeing the world from a different perspective.
Rope Bridge: Build and cross a Monkey Bridge.
